Celebrate the birthplace of America's favorite food during Pasadena Cheeseburger Week every January

Thank you to everyone who helped Pasadena celebrate the birth of the cheeseburger at the Rite Spot Cafe in 1924 (more or less) on West Colorado Boulevard right here in our Crown City of the Valley. We appreciate everyone who came out to enjoy a special week devoted to one of America’s favorite foods.

We saluted Lionel Sternberger for his mastery, insight and daring in placing a piece of cheese atop a hamburger for the first time in recorded culinary history. Even though the Rite Spot is long gone, the legacy of the cheeseburger lives on in restaurants and diners, at roadside stands and in backyards worldwide. You can help celebrate in January during Pasadena’s Cheeseburger Week. Come on out and join the fun. (You don’t need to wait until January to patronize one of our Cheeseburger Week participants.)
