You can maximize your Cheeseburer Week experience by organizing friends in a Cheeseburger Crawl. Get some friends together and visit three or four participating restaurants to sample their burgers. Order one burger and split it three or four ways, then do the same at the next place.
You can organize your own itinerary, or follow one of our suggested routes.
Enjoy the Traditional Pasadena Cheeseburger Crawl:
- Start at Pie ‘n Burger at 913 East California for a burger recognized nationwide as one of the best.
- Step around the corner to 535 South Lake Avenue and try one of Burger Continental’s tasty treats. (You can also get a beer or glass of wine with your burger.)
- Hop in the car and head for The Original Tops at 3838 East Colorado Boulevard in east Pasadena.
- Finish up at Clearman’s Galley at 7215 Rosemead Boulevard (just south of Huntington Drive). They have a full bar, as well.
Take the Old Pasadena White Table Cloth Burger Crawl (Park your car, this one is on foot — and can include drinks):
- Start at a|k|a An American Bistro at 41 Hugus Alley near the corner of DeLacey and Union Street with their Certified Angus Burger. (Try a signature cocktail, while you’re there.)
- Then walk around the corner to POP Champagne and Dessert Bar and split an order of sliders or share a full-sized burger. (Enjoy a glass of wine, champagne or a specially crafted champagne drink, too.)
- Hop over to 70 North Raymond Avenue and up the stairs to Vertical Wine Bistro to taste one of Chef Laurent Quenioux’s creations. (Vertical has a great wine list and a full bar with a number of signature cocktails to sample, as well.)
- Finish up at redwhite + bluezz at 70 South Raymond for the Duo Beef Sliders or Western Kobe Beef Burger (and some cool jazz and fine wine, beer or cocktails).
Try the Lake Avenue Burger Crawl:
- Start with a glass of wine chosen by Mike Farwell to accompany Chef Claud Beltran’s Farwell Burger at Noir Food and Wine at 40 North Mentor Avenue.
- Then walk down Mentor to 140 Shopper’s Lane with a stop at The Counter for a build-your-own-burger delight. (You can enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your burger, too.)
- RIght next door at Green Street Restaurant (146 Shopper’s Lane) you can have a cocktail, taste of wine or beer as you enjoy a tasty burger at one of Pasadena’s favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner destinations.
- Finish up by splitting a Magnolia Cheeseburger or Turkey Burger at Magnolia Lounge at 492 South Lake Avenue. You can enjoy one of their fine cocktails with your burger in this former speakeasy before heading back to your car.
Designate a driver for the Beer and a Burger Crawl (do this one walking… ):
- Start at Haven Gastropub+Brewery at 42 South DeLacey Avenue (across from the DeLacey Parking Garage). Enjoy the Lamb Burger or the Haven Burger and be sure to try one of their signature brews (some made on site).
- Head up to 20 East Colorado for tasty beers and gourmet burgers at Kings Row Gastropub. (The Happy Hour Cheeseburger is a great deal, especially when you wash it down with a fine pour.)
- Walk to New York Deli at 25 North Raymond Avenue for a Reuben Burger (one one of their other deli-based speciality burgers). Check out the wall of beer and taste one with your burger.
- Finish just up the street up at Slater’s 50/50 at 61 North Raymond Avenue, a new addition to Pasadena’s burger scene. Try the half bacon – half beef burger and one of the 100+ beers on tap.
Be Adventurous with the Alternative Burger Crawl (if you’ve had enough burgers for one week, try something different):
- Start at Japon Bistro at 927 East Colorado (just east of Lake Avenue) for the Philadelphia Roll (California Roll with cream cheese and eel sauce) accompanied by one of Koji’s signature sake cocktails.
- Head to CREPEstudio at 90 East Union Street in Old Pasadena for a Lithuanian-inspired crepe and beef delight or their veggie version on a crepe.
- Walk around the corner to IX-tapa Cantina at 119 East Colorado for a hamburger-stuffed chile relleno. While you’re there, try one of the tasty margarita’s.
- Finish up at El Portal 695 East Green Street (in Arcade Lane) with Armando’s specially prepared Zacatecas Burger (made with spiced ham, beef and more). Wash it down with a Cadillac Margarita.
Go out for the East Pasadena Cheeseburger Crawl:
- Start at Robin’s Wood Fire BBQ at 395 North Rosemead Boulevard with a cheeseburger stuffed with gorgonzola or the ultimate Garbage Burger and a tall glass of Newcastle.
- Head down Rosemead to Clearman’s Northwoods Inn at 7247 Rosemead Boulevard (just south of Huntington) for one of their burgers (and maybe a drink to go with).
- Go west on Huntington and north on San Gabriel to find delicious sliders at Toro Sushi Bar Lounge at 2675 East Colorado Boulevard (at San Gabriel) in Pasadena. Try a Finding Nemo (one of the finalist drinks in the 2012 SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge).
- Finish up at 300 Pasadena at 3545 East Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena. Enjoy one of their signature burgers, have a drink and maybe bowl a couple of games to burn off the cheeseburger calories.
Try the New Pasadena Cheeseburger Crawl (check out these new additions to Pasadena’s food scene:
- Start at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse and take note of the meticulous restoration of the former bank at 234 East Colorado (at Marengo). Try one of their signature burgers, and maybe a nice beer to wash it down.
- Head up Colorado to Umami Burger at 49 East Colorado for a shiitake mushroom Umami burger or a Cali Burger. If you walk, try the Rose Bowl cocktail or the Park Slope.
- Head up Raymond (to 61 North) and check out Slater’s 50/50 for a long cold beer and the Peanut Butter and Jellousy or maybe the Old Timey.
- Finish up at Trattoria Neapolis Italian Restaurant and Bar at 336 South Lake Avenue for delicious food and handcrafted cocktails in one of Pasadena’s most elegant settings.
Explore the Ethnic Cheeseburger Crawl:
- Start out at 698 East Colorado with the Yahaira’s Mexican Burger, a delicious melding of Yucatan taste and American tradition.
- Then head to Burger Continental at 535 South Lake Avenue for the Armenian Burger: Middle Eastern spices, condiments and a burger served in a pita.
- Then visit CREPEstudio at 99 East Union Street for the Estonian burger: a crepe encasing sauteed beef, cheese and spices.
- Finish up at New York Deli at 25 North Raymond Avenue with their Reuben Burger and a cold beer or cocktail to finish off the evening.
Try the Veggie/Alternative Burger Crawl:
- Start at Ann Gentry’s Real Food Daily at 895 East Del Mar Boulevard (at Lake Avenue). The RFD Burger will tantalize your tastebuds.
- Head to Old Pasadena and check out the Veggie Sandwich at Market on Holly at 57 East Holly Street for a mouth-watering experience.
- Then head to a|k|a An American Bistro at 41 Hugus Alley for the Roasted Portobello and Brie on Focaccia.
- Finish up with the Earth Burger at Umami Burger at 49 East Colorado in Old Pasadena.
Take the Sliders Cheeseburger Crawl
- Start with the Duck Sliders at Kings Row Gastropub at 20 East Colorado in Old Pasadena.
- Walk around the corner to Vertical Wine Bistro at 70 North Raymond for the Happy Hour Sliders (and, if you have a designated driver, one of Vertical’s artisanal cocktails).
- Then head to Ruth’s Chris Steak House at 369 East Colorado and try their Prime Sliders. Have a Broad Street Hurricane and taste the drink that was crowned Pasadena’s 2012 Cocktail of the Year.
- Finish up at Toro Sushi Bar Lounge at 2675 East Colorado Boulevard for the Kobe Beef Sliders and a nice cocktail to finish off the evening.
Specially created Cheeseburger Week Burger Crawl (these folks invented something special to celebrate Cheeseburger Week:
- Start at Cafe 140 South for the specially created Bratwurst Burger (and maybe enjoy a Lucky Buddha beer with it.
- Then walk to The Counter on Shopper’s lane for their Bison Burger topped with Gruyere, roasted Roma tomatoes, fried fennel rings and more.
- Hop in your car and head to Kings Row Gastropub in Old Pasadena for the Mars Rover Burger, made with dry aged ribeye, chorizo, an egg and much more.
- Finish up at Clearman’s Galley for their special California Burger .
