SIP-tember: A Celebration of the Cocktail began August 15th.

We are down to the four finalist cocktails.

 

Drinks competing in the final round of the SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge are:

  • White Horse Lounge-No Problemo (Ford's Gin, Ancho Reyes, Green Chartreuse, Lime Juice, Peyschauds Bitters, Candied Jalapeño.)
  • Bistro 45-Vieux Carre (Old Overholt Rye, sweet vermouth, VS Cognac, Benedictine, Angostura & Peychauds bitters, stirred and serves in an etched coupe.
  • Sushi Roku-The Ish (Grey Goose Vodka, Shishito Peppers, Cynar, Passion Fruit, L'Orgeat, Lemon Juice)
  • Bar 1886 at the Raymond-The Quagmire by Luis Nava (Stirred Old Fashioned with Larceny Bourbon, House Made Fig Syrup and Tiki Bitters.)

You can vote for your favorite live at the Taste of Pasadena on September 28th at the Rose Bowl starting at 6pm.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Taste of Pasadena event at the Rose Bowl on Thursday, September 28th from 6pm to 9pm.

No more than 500 tickets will be sold to the Taste of Pasadena in the Court of Champions in front of the Rose Bowl. No long lines. No waiting for food and drink. Entertainment will be provided by Dance Syndicate.

Advanced tickets are $30 per person and available at www.pasadena-chamber.org/forms/taste-of-pasadena.

Those who do not register and pay in advance will pay $50 at the door. Early ticket sales end September 26th.

We are hosting this in conjunction with our SIP-tember Finale and cocktail tasting. At the end of the event, we will tally votes of the live cocktail tasting and announce Pasadena’s Favorite Cocktail for 2017.

The City of Pasadena, The Rose Bowl, and the Pasadena Star-News sponsor the event.

 

Drinks being offered for the SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge include special margaritas, new interpretations of traditional cocktails and some specially created drinks from some of Pasadena’s premiere mixologists.

Restaurants and lounges offer great interpretations of traditional cocktails. Try drinks created especially for the SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge. Previous drinks named Pasadena’s Favorite Cocktail include the Broad Street Hurricane from Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the Cucumber Skinny-tini from Toro Sushi, the Vin de Pomplemousse from Green Street Restaurant or White Horse Lounge’s 2016 Forbidden and Ruth's Chris' Julio's Passion.

Once again, SIP-tember: A Celebration of the Cocktail culminates in a grand taste-off at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on September 28th. Everyone (21 years-old or older) attending the Taste of Pasadena that evening will be able to taste the four finalist cocktails and vote for your favorite.

In 2016, more than four hundred people were on hand for the finale of the SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge. In addition to the four featured cocktail finalists, guests attendees at the SIP-tember Bracket Challenge Finale tasted culinary treats from The Raymond Restaurant, California Pizza Kitchen, CaterArt Catering, POP Champagne and Dessert Bar, Osawa Shabu Shabu Sushi, Twohey's and many more.

The Sip-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge Grand Finale is presented by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce as a Pasadena Restaurant Week event sponsored by The City of Pasadena, Wells Fargo, The Pasadena Star-News and the Rose Bowl.

The SIP-tember cocktail bracket challenge is an annual six week long competition among Pasadena Chamber of Commerce member restaurants and lounges. Competitors served drinks that were paired against each other in a competition.

A complete list of venues offering cocktails for the 2017 SIP-tember Cocktail Bracket Challenge will be annouced in early August.

Voting for SIP-tember kicks off on August 15, 2017.

Once again, we will be hosting an informal citywide cocktail party to celebrate the 103nd anniversary of the birth of America’s first culinary celebrity -  Pasadena’s own Julia Child. The Julia Child Pasadena Cocktail Party on August 15th takes place in restaurants all over Pasadena, culminating in a citywide happy birthday toast at 7:00pm. Patrons are encouraged to dress for a 1950s, 1960s or 1970s era cocktail party.

SIP-tember: A Celebration of the Cocktail and the Taste of Pasadena provide a terrific opportunity for patrons to visit new places, remember old favorites and see the breadth of excellent offerings found in the Pasadena area.
